Denali, the “High One”, is the name Native Athabascans gave the massive peak. Denali is also the name of the 6 million acre national park and preserve that resulted from expanding the original Mount McKinley National Park in 1980; the park is larger than Massachusetts. The mountain, standing at 20,320 feet, is the highest on the North American continent; and caps the Alaska Range, a 600-mile arc of mountains dividing south-central Alaska from the interior.

Far above the northern tree line at the Arctic Contintental Divide, glacially carved mountains rise to 6400 feet, offering dramatic views. The Pass is a major migration route for the world's largest herd of 450,000 Barren Ground Caribou, and also finds Grizzly, Black Bear, wolf, moose, Dall Sheep, wolverine, and fox travelers amidst these majestic mountains' shadow. Native Residents of Anaktuvuk Pass	In the Eskimo village, meet people whose rich, ancient heritage guide them as they work to blend modern ways with traditional subsistence life. Learn of the Nunamiut, inland Eskimo, way of life.
Visit the National Park ranger station. After lunch, experience how the people travel, hunt, and use the land. Explore subsistence hunting trails across the treeless Arctic tundra. Circle the summit of Mt McKinley in Warbelow’s Beechcraft 1900 aircraft, powered by turbine engines and pressurized for your comfort. At 20,320 ft, McKinley is the highest mountain in North America. Fly above the clouds and view the Northern Lights in the clear skies above Mt McKinley. Every passenger gets a window seat.
For the best chance of seeing northern lights the flight departs at 11:00 pm.
