COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Warbelow's Critical Care Air Ambulance provides emergency medical response to over 30 interior villages with inter-hospital transport to Anchorage and Seattle. Specializing in advanced life support (ALS), Warbelow's has provided emergency medical care since 1992 and is recognized as Fairbanks oldest and most experienced air ambulance provider, with service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We utilize a pressurized Cheyenne II XL twin jet-prop aircraft and type I fully equipped ground transports. Our staff of fifteen mobile-intensive care paramedics (MICP'S) and advanced EMT III's are critical care trained. We remain dedicated to responding 24/7 within a 30 minute launch time—serving interior Alaska's emergency medical needs.

OUR RIDEALONG PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in our service.  This information should answer any questions that you may have about our Ridealong program and how it works.  We are based at 3758 University Avenue, Fairbanks with our new Cheyenne aircraft.  On the shift that you are scheduled to fly with us; please report to Warbelow’s passengers lobby and request an air ambulance crewmember.  If you have any problems or need to cancel your request, please call David Allen at 374-6222 or 978-1150 (cell).

Expectations:  You will be flying along with us as an observer and will not be expected to perform any medical treatment.  You may be asked to assist in carrying equipment, loading or unloading and other basic tasks.  The air medical industry is exciting and challenging and we want you to learn from your experience.  We are confident that this experience will be both educational and exciting!

Clothing:  We maintain a professional appearance and since you will be representing Warbelow’s Air Ventures you should do the same.  EMS personnel may wear their uniforms.  Please be neat in whatever you choose to wear and dress for the weather because you may be outside for short periods of time.  It is important to remember that even though it is comfortable on the ground, there can be great variances in temperatures and weather conditions during flights.  Please dress appropriately for the conditions.  We reserve the option to refuse to take improperly attired personnel.

Photographs:  Please bring a camera, if you choose.  Aerial photographs can be exciting and Alaska is breathtaking by air!  We will explain patient privacy if you want to take photographs inside the aircraft.

Downtime:  You may be busy all day or you may have some “downtime” between flights.  We keep busy during our downtime by doing paperwork, patient follow-up, and restocking.  We also will have educational material available for you to make the non-flying hours productive.

Meals:  You may wish to bring along something to eat.  There is a microwave at the station, but there is no guarantee we will be around during meal times!
